How long do you need to visit New Zealand?

If you are lucky enough to have five or more weeks in New Zealand, you can travel the length of the country. The children will appreciate the relaxed travel schedule, spending less time in the car and visiting extraordinary locations.

We are serious about sustainable travel and always have been. Since native New Zealander Andrew Morten founded the company in 2006, we have taken sustainability seriously. It’s not just a project for us but a company philosophy. Since 2008, we have been planting trees in the Te Urewera Rainforest. And we joined forces with Cathay Pacific to carbon offset all of our clients and employees travel through projects in Asia.

Best travel time

Travelling with primary-aged children means you will need to travel during school holidays. And, if you are travelling as far as New Zealand you want to travel for at least three weeks. This makes travelling during your summer holidays (winter in New Zealand) the best option.

The winter months in New Zealand are from June to August. Soak up views of snow-capped mountains and enjoy fewer crowds. The perfect time for hikes and bike rides. We have personally travelled with our own children and have experience designing stress-free holidays with a relaxed travel schedule.

In the North Island, winters are mild with average temperatures between 10 and 16 degrees. The South Island is often snowing and has generally colder temperatures. Enjoy the snow and go skiing/snowboarding at Mount Hutt, Cardrona, The Remarkables, Treble Cone and Coronet Peak.

The South Island

Flying to the other side of the world may seem like a big task with young children. But, it doesn’t need to be. We work with the best airlines and offer comfortable connections and flight times. The in-flight entertainment will keep your children occupied and relaxed. And, we reserve seats next to each other so you can keep a close eye on them.

Why not enjoy a relaxing stopover to break up the journey? We can advise you on the best locations for families. Your options can include Dubai, Thailand, Cook Islands, Singapore, Fiji and Hong Kong. All with their own unique charm.

Would you like to travel in Economy or Premium Economy? Or would you like that extra comfort in Business or First Class? We can advise you on the best option for your family.

How long can you spend in New Zealand?

The NZeTA - New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority is valid for up to two years. As a British citizen, you can travel through New Zealand for up to six months at a time. If you would like to stay longer, it is possible but you will need to apply for another type of visa. We can advise you further about this when we sit down together.

The North Island

Why should you visit the North Island and not the South Island? Both islands offer spectacular nature, world-class wineries, beaches and endless things to do and see. However, in the North Island the Maoritanga, the Maori way of life is very much alive. It is where the vast majority of New Zealand’s Maori people reside and therefore, has a wealth of local culture to be uncovered.

The North Island is also home to three-quarters of the country’s population which makes it a vibrant and interesting place with many things going-on. The North Island is a true gem with all the ingredients to experience a trip of a lifetime.
