Is it safe to fly now that COVID-19 is here?

As the world starts moving again and travel is becoming possible, you may be wondering what type of experience flying will be since COVID-19 has become a part of our lives. It may have been a long time ago since you last boarded a plane or even went to the airport. Therefore, you may be imagining a scene similar to Dances with Wolves, when Kevin Costner enters a world of the unknown. At first, it may be scary but in the end, it becomes an adventure.

Many airlines have introduced extra safety requirements for your protection.

To help ease your concerns, we have provided some information about flying and COVID-19. As rules and regulations change quickly, we suggest that you use this as a guideline only.

You will be required to answer health screening questions upon check-in at worldwide airports

To protect yourself and your fellow passengers, a face covering is required:

Fly safely and in a clean environment

Prior to departure, the cabins are cleaned thoroughly. Using the highest quality sanitiser, all surfaces are cleaned between every flight. Including the in-flight screens to air-conditioning controls to ensure you are protected during your flight. The cabin crew will also be wearing masks, gloves, and goggles to protect the well-being of everyone on board.

On your journey, you will fly in aircraft equipped with HEPA - high-efficiency particle - filters. HEPA filters are similar to the standard used in hospitals and are able to catch most airborne particles. The risk of catching something on a plane with HEPA filters is actually lower than in many other confined spaces. In fact, the air is cleaner and less contaminated than most office buildings. You’ll arrive at your destination happy and healthy.

To minimise contact during check-in and boarding, you can make use of online check-in and the self-service facilities that are provided. While you are waiting to board your flight, there is an increased frequency of cleaning and santisation. With an application of antimicrobial coating across all public areas.
